Welcome to Movie Ink. The site was created February 2012 by Dallas-based arts & entertainment journalist Gary Dowell, with the intention of providing movie reviews and related features, as well as coverage of film festivals, production developments, screenings, and special events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and occasionally beyond.

Gary graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Communications in 1998. He has worked as a film critic and section editor at The Met and the Dallas Morning News, and has freelanced for the Dallas Morning News, Lakewood Advocate, Lit Monthly, Dark Horizons, Pop Citizen, and Theater Jones. He has worked as a travel coordinator, copy writer, submissions screener, and general volunteer for the USA Film Festival, Oak Cliff Film Festival, Dallas Video Festival, and Dallas International Film Festival, and is a member of the Dallas/Fort Worth Film Critics Association. He is the editor of the audio fiction podcast Far Fetched Fables and co-host of the Noomatik podcast.
