WIF.D to Screen ‘The Perfect Family’

Women In Film.Dallas presents a preview screening of the comedy The Perfect Family, 7pm, May 15, at the Studio Movie Grill — Dallas/Royal. Tickets are $10 ($5 for WIF.D members) via the organization’s website, with proceeds benefiting their grant and scholarship programs.

Written by Dallas-based screenwriter and WIF.D board member Paula Goldberg and directed by Anne Renton, The Perfect Family stars Kathleen Turner as a suburban mother forced to confront the uncomfortable truths about her nonconformist family — gay daughter Shannon (Emily Deschanel), philandering son Frank (Jason Ritter), and recovering alcoholic husband Frank Sr. (Michael McGrady) — when nominated for a coveted Catholic Woman of the Year Award. The movie also stars Elizabeth Pena, Richard Chamberlain, and Sharon Lawrence. A Q&A session with Goldberg will follow the screening.

The movie opens in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on May 4, and in 20 other cities on May 11. A Dallas release date has not been set.
